Better than average food but I won't go back. Music was so loud I couldn't hear myself think. Mentioned how loud the music is to the waiter and was told that's how it normally is. Haven't been there in about 5 years or so. Came back because I have gift certificate.

The service is great and memorable. ..the problem? The food...it was truly tasteless. The pasta was bland. Pizza for kids was beyond tastless.. honestly was disappointed that our table of five all left with the same feedback.

Met a friend here for dinner. I normally would not pick this place, but it's never busy(gee hint hint) and it was a good meeting point for us. Our waiter was new, but still very nice and a true people pleaser. Karen had a cappuccino martini which was delicious, and the best part of her meal. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan and the olives as an appetizer. I love olives, but these left little to be desired. When my eggplant came out it's appearance looked appealing, however the eggplant was sliced so thick I think the chef thought he was serving steak, or he just needed to get rid of the vegetable itself because nobody patronizes this establishment. Needless to say the only thing I ate that night was the salad, and the small serving of pasta that came with my dish. When our very kind waiter came back and ask me if I wanted a to go box ( I think you already know the answer). I really don't understand 2 things: 1. If Olive Garden is still in business and revamped their menu then what is wrong with this place? 2. How is this restaurant even affording to keep its doors open? I only gave this restaurant one star because Karen's drink was delicious, and the waiter was very attentive. I do not recommend this place for anything more than a cocktail.

Came in with a few people around 8, for a birthday dinner. Got zero attention from waitresses/waiter. They didn't specify the menu well enough, ordered wine and never got it, once I mentioned it they said it would take longer because it was hot. Got burnt food, zero bread to start with. Everyone who worked at the time was more worried about closing down instead of their customers. Would not come back again.

My first time here using a gift card and I see no reason to return. The ambiance is nice but that's where it stops. We had 2 appetizers, fried zucchini which were pretty good and the spicy meatballs which were not spicy at all and had orange peel in the tomato sauce. That was bizarre. The fresh bread served was laced with rosemary. Not my favorite flavor. My main entree was the Eggplant Parm and it was sliced way too thick and had very little flavor. The angel hair pasta under neath it was extremely dry. But our server Jack was great. No slow service on a Tuesday night.

This chain no longer has gluten free pasta available. They need to get with the program and realize that 1 in 4 american household has someone with gluten sensitivities. Shame on them.

It's been a couple of years since i have been here, i ordered my favorite plate, chicken scaloppine and it still doesn't taste like it used to. The service was great and everybody else's plates were good. Music was changed to pop, prefer the classic italian.

For years I loved their bread, menu, as especially the create your own pasta. The service had been good as well. For some reason, on visits in the past couple of years, the quality of food and service has decreased. I also had a bad experience and the dinner I had did not settle well in my stomach the next day. I wish the place could go back to the way it used to be. I miss the old food quality, service, and atmosphere!

Husband and i went for the first time at this location. The food was bad then worse than bad. His was uncooked and mine was dried out and stuck to the plate. Never again. the table next to us sent everything back because they got hair in their food. I don`t want to waste my time with any other comments.

Customer service is excellent! Penelope who took my order was very sweet and professional. Karen, the manager was personable and made my visit great. Unfortunately, that's where the positive ends... Don't know why, but decided to give this place a try last night. Express dinner menus seemed great and so is the proximity to my house. I called in and ordered pork belly and chicken carbonara and pesto chicken farfalle to go. First of all, I was told that they didn't have bowtie and therefore I was asked to either substitute it for another pasta or wait 5 minutes. I decided to just substitute. Since my wait was over 9 minutes, I was given both dishes for free. The manager was very apologetic and sweet about it. I had no issues with waiting and didn't realize that "free food" would be the result. When I got home and my husband and I tried our dishes we were thankful that we didn't pay. Both were incredibly dryand tasteless. Carbonara had to be tossed in the trash right away. Pesto was better, but not much. Luckily, the serving is pretty big and we did split it. Despite of getting coupons for future discounts, we will not be back.

Shame. Gone so downhill. Too many details about the bad experience today. The staff looked miserable. Good luck with staying open guys at the Tyrone location.

Horrible restaurant. Waited at our table for over 10 minutes, watched 2 other tables who sat after us get served, and still never knew who our waiter was. No contact at all. Left them a nastygram in crayon on our table, told the manager that they suck, and walked out. Never...never again.

Ugh. I don't care to post negative reviews, but the Tyrone Mall Macaroni Grill left me no choice. I was in the restaurant last Friday around 7:15 p.m. Understandably this is a pretty busy time for a restaurant so we were prepared when the hostess informed us that there was a 25 minute wait. We said, that'll be fine, put our name down and told them "no problem" we'll just have a quick drink at the bar. Our seats at the bar were probably 30 feet from the hostess stand. About 10 minutes into a beverage I heard the hostess holler a name that was close to mine and when I look towards her she can clearly tell I think the name is mine, but she mouths it to me again and it's not. So, she then asks me for my name. I try to mouth it back and she can't understand so she comes over. I tell her our name and she looks at her board and says we called your name 5 minutes ago. So now, the 25 minute wait suddenly dropped to 5 minutes! She says "no problem" and escorts us to our table which was very nice of her. When we get to our table in the back of the restaurant the light fixture along the wall of our little booth was broken off, but fortunately there was enough light from the kitchen to see the menu. I also noted that just over the wall of our booth was a seating area of perhaps 8 tables that was completely empty and not being used! You're on an alleged 25 minute wait, but an entire section of tables isn't being used? Nice management. Then to top it all off the food was completely run of the mill Italian. I had the pork chop and risotto. The pork chop had a sun dried tomato sauce that was too sharp and contrasted poorly with both the chop and the risotto. The risotto was also lackluster. Too gelatinous for my liking and became rubbery as it cooled. The flavors in the risotto were good, but the texture and contrast to the crappy sauce just didn't do it for me. For a similar price I could have had a lovely Italian meal at Carrabba's, which I will do in the future.

While generally avoiding chains, it is not a religious article of faith. So had lunch there today with a family member who loves the place. It is a nice setting with mostly attentive service, but not exactly speedy. The limited menu offered some nice sampler combo options. Excellent tomato soup, good caprese sandwich, and they bring bread and dipping EVO to keep you busy. Not bad overall but not primo Italian fare. Admittedly with a chain, you can be fairly confident in knowing what to expect, and it will not be horrible or wonderful. Eating at local independent places does carry a risk of a very bad meal, but more often I get better than average, and sometimes really memorable food, service and overall experience. So I will continue the adventure.

We went here for lunch with our 2 year old and found the service to be very nice. Casual dining environment, friendly waitress, and a really cheap lunch menu with delicious salad and bread. The apps we got (baked olives and fried mozzarella) were not very good though. Bland at best (but arrived piping hot in a nice presentation) but did not taste nearly as good as they looked. The vanilla gelato was over-sweetened and tasted like sugary cheap ice cream instead of vanilla flavored cream like it should have. Restaurant was clean and we would probably come back for another quick lunch. The parmesan crusted chicken salad was pretty delicious. Also, this was a very kid-friendly place, with paper tablecloths for our son to draw on with the crayons that were provided. Nice kids menu as well.

There seems to be a running pattern here....and that is of slow service. Whats makes it worse is the identical atmosphere many describe at this store....its usually empty. Even during the lunch hour rush the place has 85 tables open. My last visit during lunch was just okay. Always a friendly greeting and the staff is always nice, but no matter what - it is just s l o w .....I don't get it. There were a total of seven tables (including the bar) being served while I was there and it took 25 minutes to get meatball sliders.....really? Contrary to others reviews, our server who we have had before, is very attentive and due to lack of tables was not rushed in the least, leading me to believe this to be a back of the house problem. There was one line cook (chef?) making orders that we could see and was not even in the kitchen most of the time....instead he was out on the floor talking to a hostess. Could this explain why my meatball slider and my daughters penne pasta with cream sauce took 25 minutes.....perhaps. What keeps me coming back is the customer service - they are always nice and the food is usually good....it just takes a while. Meanwhile - a mile down the road at Carrabbas, they are stacked full with no tables available during dinner and a party of 6 gets their food in 10 minutes....oh well.

Restaurants like this one are reason my husband and I avoid national chains. Only went because we were given a gift card. Only 2 other tables in the restaurant and it took forever for our food. Gluten free pasta was barely cooked after waiting 30min, and server even came by to say they were making 'fresh' batch. It smelled funky. It took 10 min to run our credit card/ gift card bill. All around a dissatisfying experience and we won't be going back.

Let me start off by saying this used to be my favorite chain for Italian food. It's a shame really, I have very fond memories of this place including one where I got to actually kiss the Stanley Cup. I visited there on a Monday night for my birthday. We were a party of six adults and one child. The restaurant was mostly empty, seating another four possibly five tables, tops. It's really gone downhill. I used to frequent this place on a regular basis, in the past year or so I have trimmed it down quite a bit. For starters the food quality has really diminished. Starting from the way in which the bread is now served. It still served hot mind you, however, you no longer get fresh herbs and instead you just get cracked pepper in the oil on the table. It's really about the little things you know. The salads are skimpier, appetizers are smaller, and the entrées themselves have become really bland. And the service, yikes! They've rotated out most of the good servers and those that remain, well.... Our server repeatedly forgot things such as water, napkins, silverware. And slows they were still used to food runner who had to loudly call out who gets what. I absolutely hate that! This place is never been known for its ambience, don't get me wrong, the overall look of the place is pretty neat, however, on a busy night the noise level is atrocious. The tables are too close together, and the lighting is exceptionally bright. They did away with the cool Italian language instruction that was piped into the restrooms, and instead some loud contemporary music is used instead, so much for the theme. So sadly, unless there's going to be some announcement of a management change, or some great new dish for me to try, I don't think I'll be back for a while.

This place is hit or miss. It is close where I work, happy hour is good and I do like the food. What brings this place down is the service. Even the great servers, seem to have their head in the clouds and not very attentive, which causes the service to be VERY VERY SLOW. So, if you aren't in a hurry....the drinks and food are excellent!

On vacation and we went to dinner and they had no soap in the bathrooms and the management knew about it. No way we would eat there and left!

I used to like this chain, there was always something on the menu that was appealing for whatever mood I was in. That has changed over the years. Yes certain resataurants will go off the menu and prepare the wilted spinach salad the way it used to be offered but having to ask that makes it sometimes a little awkward especially if the waiter doesn't know what you're talking about. So Romano's Macaroni Grill goes from an easy business lunch decision to what else is around? This location is up to par with other restaurants and if you have the desire to scribble all over your table top and contemplate how long it takes the servers to learn to write upside down then stop by. I do admit I've never had a bad meal in any of the local Romano's so I guess consistancy wins there but medeocracy will continue to keep me looking for other places to visit. On another note I probably will return and my ideal score would be somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.. Re-reading this makes me want to ask if I would like cheese with this review which does take me to the pour your own honor system for the house red, something that has stayed the same :)

I keep trying to give this restaurant chances, but I always leave disappointed. The last straw was when I ordered take out. I ordered take out because I didn't want to go inside. I waited in my car for about 25 mins, during this time there was no one else waiting for take out. I actually had to call the restaurant from my car and then about 5 mins later, some guy walks out, hands me my food and doesn't say anything about sorry for being late. So I'm already ticked, then as he is walking away with my credit card, he says, with an attitude, "do you think you can move your car out of the water puddle for me?" As if I purposely parked in a puddle to make his life difficult. Well that's it, never going back. After reading all of the other reviews, I know it's not just me.

Unclean; Neglected dishes & glasses everywhere (especially all over the bar where I was eating); bartenders TOO wrapped up in the girlfriend's sitting at the bar; They also told me they were out of Kettle One for my Martini when I was looking STRAIGHT at an unopened bottle at the bar; The wait staff was too busy talking among themselves; Food finally arrived cold, and by that time I was already over the bartender, AND this place. It needs an employee overhaul; and the place needs a scrubbing, top to bottom. I'm a casual kinda guy; Successful, respectable and a GREAT TIPPER. This place; Not so much..

Must be a new manager, our service was great on a busy Friday night. We had a small issue withbour table and the manager not only came over to apologize and took care of it, she went out of her way to make us happy offering appetizers and checking on us later on with another apology. It was more than expected for such a small issue and between her professionalism, our wonderful and personable waitress we had a wonderful dinner. The food was pretty good as well as the drinks. Try the feta appetizer. What a surprise!

Went here, what a great menu choice, price wise as well. We were served by a female server who sang accapello, for a birthday & an anniversary while we were there, she was a good server, did not feel rushed or ignored. Everything we had was very good, portion wise, quality and flavor. We would definately go again.

I had the best Eggplant Parmesan ever! I usually make my own, because most restaurants use those deep-fried, heavily breaded, prepackaged discs. I don't think I can match Macaroni Grill's fresh tasting, lightly breaded eggplant Parmesan with fresh basil and smothered in creamy melted cheese and a light marinara sauce. They even brought a small dish of ricotta cheese I requested to enjoy with my eggplant.. The olive oil they use for their dipping sauce is perfect, too. .All wines are 1/2 price during the summer promotion. I'm looking forward to trying the Italian Nachos, too. I hear Macaroni Grill has new owners, who want to kick up the Italian flair and flavors. I ate at the bar and had great service. I would have liked to have eaten at one of the booths, but the spacing between the table and the seat is way too wide, to the point that you are sitting on the edge to be in a position to eat your food.

  • Jeff L.

Food is typical of most Macaroni Grill's. However, the service can be better as you don't feel like the restaurant really wants you to enjoy their food AND still make it back in time for your 2pm meeting. You sometimes will wait forever just for the order to come to your table to take your order or refill your drink.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
